Forward shoulders are a common problem in suit jackets for both men and women.
Here's what they look like:
So why does this happen? You went to a custom or bespoke suit shop, or even a custom tailor, and they still couldn't get it right? It's usually because they didn't account for contouring the jacket's pattern to your shoulders specifically. They need to note your shoulder slope, whether or not your back is rounded, and generally you drawn the pattern, and ultimately cut the jacket, to have a slightly larger back, and smaller chest, allowing for the fabric to drape your body better.
Can you fix forward shoulder issues on a jacket that is already made? Not really. You might be able to help alleviate some of the problems by shrinking the chest, and loosening up the back, but you likely won't be able to cut the shoulders again to allow for proper sloping. They may not be enough fabric on the inside to allow for that.
So how do you make sure that you get it right the next time you go to buy a suit or jacket? Ask your style advisor or tailor whether they've dealt with someone who has the same, or similar, posture as you. If they have some pictures to show you, ask to see them. Show them the picture in this article, or even the video below. Better yet, if you still have the jacket that doesn't fit you right, take it in with you and show them what you don't want.
